According to National Geographic, the world’s oldest door was discovered by archeologists in Zurich, Switzerland. This door was found on an evacuation site and unsurprisingly made of wood. 2. The World’s Biggest Door is Owned by NASA

When you’re a company like NASA, it’s go big or go home. The world’s biggest doors are found in NASA’s Vehicle Assembly Building, which was used to assemble and house American-crewed launch vehicles from 1968-2011. The doors take an entire 45 minutes to open and close.

However, in 2015, the Minnesota Vikings made a claim that their doors are the biggest operable doors in the world. The doors range from 75 feet to 95 feet. These doors are used as an entrance on the west side of the stadium.

According to Guinness World Records, the tallest revolving door measures 15 ft 9 inches and is in the Novotel Citygate Hong Kong hotel in Tung Chung, Hong Kong.

5. Love Bright Colored Doors? Thank the Irish

It’s believed that the Irish started the trend of painting entry doors bright colors. The story goes that famous writer Oliver St John Gogarty painted his door bright green. This was to help him find his way home when he was drunk. Another neighbor painted his door red so Gogarty wouldn’t come knocking on it.

Other stories claim that painting doors bright colors was a simple attempt to set neighbors apart, just like today.
